Middle School Social May 13, 2017 The middle school students were at PIC from 4:30-9:00 Saturday night for an enjoyable evening of socializing together. They participated in land and water games led by PIC Clubmates and ate a buffet dinner. The students were divided into the blue team and the red team and competed in events such as the water tug of war, water polo, water basketball, cocoanut shuffleboard, a sea-themed form of Simon Says, and a ping pong tournament. |

Following Directions March 2017 Mr. Nick's class is working on following directions. When creating a dish to eat, following the directions carefully leads to the right taste. Today it was pancakes. |

Valentine Gram Delivery February 14, 2017 Our Eighth grade students initiated their own fund raiser to help pay for their trip to Europe in May. They sold Valentine Grams for $5.00 each, which included a bag of candy and a written note from the sender. Jasmine Frink was the lead organizer of the fund raiser and was super organized. We recognize and celebrate the work that our eighth grade students have done in being responsible for funding their international education experience. |

Cultural Fair December 8, 2016 The middle school students at Whispering Palms School hosted a Cultural Fair for the rest of the school and parents. The students prepared tri-board informative material for countries of Central America and the Caribbean. They gave oral presentations, answered questions, played games from the chosen country, and served food originating in that country. The rest of the school and parents attended and were able to wander freely from the displays of the countries. |

8th Grade Fundraiser Trip to Vilnius, Berlin, and Amsterdam December 2016 Next May, our 8th grade students will be visiting Vilnius, Lithuania and Berlin, Germany. They will explore the history of Nazi Germany and its effects on Europe. They will also experience the communistic rule of East Germany and life in Lithuania under the Soviet Union. To help pay for their trip, they organized a sale of hand-painted glass Christmas ornaments. |

Final Day Before Thanksgiving Break November 23, 2016 Ms. Christie's class made Turkeys with wings that showed the students gratitude. Mr. Nick's class dressed up like their favorite character from a literature book. Ms. JoAnn's class tried to find the Thanksgiving turkey who attempted to disguise himself so he wouldn't be on the Thanksgiving table. |

PIC Swim Days November/December 2016 PIC arranged for free days of swimming for our students. Ms. Kim's class went on November 14, Ms. JoAnn's class on November 21, and Mr. Nick and Ms. Christie took their kids on December 5. It is a great way to spend a warm, sunny morning! |

Recycling Awareness November 2016 Last week Mr. Nick’s science class focused on the topic of recycling. This is an important topic anywhere in the world, but especially here on Saipan. Our home island has limited space for all the trash we create. The students collected data from home about the number of storage containers used, created a graph, and discussed their findings. |

Reading Coordinate Maps November 2016 Middle School students enjoyed learning about coordinate maps last week and tried out their skills by playing a game of Battleship. Even with GPS systems, map reading skills are essential for interpreting data in today’s world. |

CNMI Cross Country Competition November 2016 Four of our middle school students participated in the CNMI cross country finals that were hosted at Lau Lau Golf Course early Saturday morning: Kaden Church, Max Church, Blake Mister, and Dylan Mister. They all ran fantastic races and joined many other students from schools across the island. Dylan won first place and Max earned second for the 11 and under division. |

Apple Unit Study November 2016 Students in Ms. Christie’s class enjoyed a unit of study on apples last week. The unit with a celebration of eating apples, apple pie, and drinking apple juice. |

Learning to Read September 2016 Our four- and five-year old students have been focusing on creating the letters A and B for the past two weeks. They have also been learning how to spell their names and recognize patterns.

Mr. Nick's Class Classifies August 2016 In science class, the lower elementary students are learning the difference between living and non-living things. To make this lesson come alive, Mr. Nick brought his students outside on a campus walk. Using IPads, students identified and captured pictures to demonstrate their learning. |
